Oh my....I love love love the play. It now officially ties with Avenue Q at the #1 spot in my favorites list. Yeah, I even liked it better than Lea's Cinderella. Atlantis Productions is really doing a great job in producing quality plays. I'm sooo looking forward to watching their upcoming shows. I am not certain when exactly will they be staging their newest production, Spelling Bee. What I know for sure is that I'm gonna be there. =)
Anyway, going back to Hairspray...
I loved everything about it...I was truly entertained and stunned by Madel Ching's (Tracy Turnblad) level of energy. And mind you, she maintained that same level of energy from start to finish. She's soooo cute and she acts really well. =) I was also taken aback by the fact that Nyoy Volante (Seaweed) could dance. I became an instant fan of his dance moves. Michael de Mesa (Edsa Turnblad) was very believable... and Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo (Velma), still, is amazing on stage. The play truly did not disappoint.
Here's my top 5 songs:
